Reflection is the first step to improvement...
Now that your colleagues have shared their wikispaces and blogs with you. Think about what you saw today in terms of layout, content and creativity.
What would you do to make your wiki and/or better?

Eric Lo - I like how he has his chapters linked separately with homework and quizzes. They are elaborate and it gave me some new ideas for my own wikispace. To avoid the lag time you could give them a short writing or reading assignment while they wait.
Christine Ferrari - I like the look of the homepage. The forms inserted are great also! Adding the documents from the first half of the class was a really good idea.
Ed Pessutti - I like the idea of posting the lesson plans and units for those who missed class or need a refresher. Also it's great that your Principal could just look at that and know what you are doing in class.
Miri Ribak - I like the extra resources you used, especially teacher tube and ask math!! The blog made me excited about math!
Rimonda Balatbat - Great start!! Your blog could use a bit more work though.
Myself - I will change my blog to have separate posts for the different questions I was trying to ask in the one blog. I also will add more links to websites related to music and questions about music.
Eric Lo -- I liked that he used many links to websites with some pretty awesome movies instead of just linking to documents, etc. Seems really functional for high-performing students that want to learn. It's nice to cater to these students occasionally...
Christine - Tons of great forms and graphic organizers that she organized by subject (not teaching now, so hard to add curriculum). All links were functional and made sense.
Elana - I think it's great that kids could go home and play the music that they studied in class without having to worry about a CD or a tape that they would most definitely lose at some point. I think it's great that they could play the music in the background (media player) while still on the wiki. Nice blog questions that should really promote discussion, especially if with older kids.
Miri - Her page seems very organized and easy to follow. Very good links for support for students and for her to use when planning. The Assistant Principal's site with the curriculum and pacing calendar is excellent for both teachers, administrators, parents and students. I think it's important for teachers to share resources and Miri's page is a resource I would hope to connect to.
Reymunda - Seemed to use the wiki for writing her lesson plans, or at the least her outlines for her lessons which I did not exactly think about doing. Interesting with how she is including parent participation in her wikispace, which I never really thought about (probably because I've only taught high school).
One of the things I would add to my Wiki would be additional resources for the students to access. I also agree that there may be too much information on such a page; therefore I would also hide future units so that students don’t become overwhelmed with such a large array of links to click. I would also like to include important information for parents to view.
From the presentation, I learn more formats that my classmates have done. I 'll upgrade my blog with those formats in the future. I'll check the IGoogle website to get more information to enrich my blog either.
Eric, Christine, Ed, Elana, and Miri... You've done a great and wonderful work. How I wish am as young as you are. Keep - up the great work. All of you can mentor me about using these amazing programs. Bye,bye..
Reymunda
All comments were insightful and thoughtful. As our learning community grows, be mindful that we will all learn from one another. We must be the role models and demonstrate to our students what self directed learners are...one who reflects on how to improve and knows where to find information in order to move to the next level.
Bravo on all comments.
I look forward to reading more as we share.
The wikispaces and blogs that were presented gave me some great ideas in improving my own work.
First I reread my wikispace entry and found many spelling errors.
Also,
Erilo put interesting visuals of the galaxy in his blog and wikispaces in the form of articles and videos which I hadn't thought of.
Elana's Blog set up some great questions on her blog for her students to begin getting to know one another while discussing music!
Ed's wikispaces looks ready to go for the fall with a great option to hide lessons that he has not gotten to yet.
So with the few presentations that I have seen I have many great ideas to help improve my blog and wiki. such as, creating a parents page, school information and tutoring offrings, upcoming events and much more!
Jada-Kanika -
I would make mine a little more interactive. I have links to lessons, videos and two sites, but I think I'd like more graphic organizers.
Emilia- My peers have incorporated there own styles of introducing forms and rules which gave me ideas on how to enhance the forms I am using this year. Additionally, I was able to explore others teachers knowledge of exciting websites and offer them to my upcoming seventh graders by posting them on my site.
I do like Amanda's wiki... it is very interactive, i would like mine to be more interactive... i will work on it more tonight.
Thank you Amanda
Elana shoshana-I like your idea of using wikispaces to create home based learning enviornment.
I like all the blogs that I have seen they are very creative and cool.
I like Ek's blog with the different images that are inserted.
I love how some of the classmates added picture images to their wikispaces! Great idea! AlsoI like how Elana I love how you added music to your site. Ed- great page..like the resources!
Myself- I will definitely add images to wikispace and add more blogs to my blogger! Great job everyone! everyone has worked so hard....;-)
Miri also great resources! Amanda I like the list you had on what writers need! I work with the younger grades and I am always reminding them!
Something I may consider including in my wikispaces, is the run down of important dates coming up. Also, perhaps I will include a layout of topics covered, etc and the timeline of those topics for parents to view.
I am impressed by formats used by some of my colleagues.Karen's insertions of pictures on her pages were great. Iam hoping to adopt some of the ideas shared by the others to improve my skill in technology.
I love how so many of you made your sites so personal. I think that is important for students to see so they can relate to you and feel comfortable in your class! Everyone did a great job! Thanks for all of the great ideas!
Amanda
I like the idea of how Ms. Evans started by introducing her class to igoogle and is having her class create one of their own. In addition to her creativity I want to thank her for posting the pacing guide for this year. It has helped me enhance my page and better organize my plans for this coming year. Thanks for sharing!
I like how some people used images in their presentation. Many also linked information to the textbooks they're using in class.
From Edy Rameau
I really got some great ideas on how to improve my wikispace from some students in the class. First Lee and Staiano showed me how to make my space more parent friendly with a letter of introdution, grade policy, contact information and lay out of the curriculum in their wikis. Then, I copied some of the web sites to evaluate them myself and eventually put those related to my classes on my wiki.
It is obvious that we are not at the same level when it comes to using technology in the classroom. However, for me I think it is the beginning of a long journey. I hope to progress with all the students who like me are new to the Hi-tech classroom, and hope to continue learning from the pros that we have in this class. Keep up the good work everyone! let us promise to always share our work!
As a result of my witnessing the wikispaces of my classmates, I am interested in not only informing parents about the course and what their children will be learning btu I also need to convey some personal touch about myself. Perhaps I can add a picture of myself. I also need to create links to geographical websites, such as National Geographic, Google Maps, and the United Nations. I aspire for my Wikispace to be a one-stop shop for geographical learning.
Wikispaces and more Wikispaces
Many of the things we did we similar. Meanwhile, there was a multitude of information presented and displayed in many different ways.
Eddie- Posted a lot of information with links to outside websites and alos included sites for students who speak another language. Great Idea.
Me- I thought of adding more pictures/videos that relate to the information/topic that I am trying to present.
I also want to incorporate my blog into thw wikispace as well.
Great wikispaces!
I would love to use the flexibility of wikispaces and the controllability of blogs to assign assignments to my students.
I just need some ideas about what kind of work can be used in wikispaces. My issue about wikispaces is that it can be deleted by anyone and if I block the pages, it will work like a common website.
Me again.
If you have any ideas about WIKISPACES, post your comment at my WIKISPACES BLOG
I think we all should also look at adding information such as videos from EdThirteen onto our wikispaces. Teachers are not always available for children once they leave the classroom. To ensure they are supported we should provide them with as many resources as possible and give them the resources they are inclined to use.
People's websites and blogs gave me a lot of new ideas, like linking my website to my blog, my space to let my students get closer to me, their teacher. Also, I realized that it is necessary to paste funny pictures onto my website for my little kids. Furthermore, I think it is a great idea to hyperlink our websites to other internet resouces, like free on-line tutoring, school events, news, online lessons, and even some good games. Thank all you guys so much! =)
