NYLearns

NYLearns provides a plethora of lessons, documents and resources that are aligned with the NYS standards. One such resource is the ability to quickly create assessments for are alignedwith the NYS standards. For example: assessment builder can be used to prepare your students for high stakes test and is also a means of identifying needs and improving student acheivement.

In your opinion, what resource do you find to be the most useful and why? Also share how you will use this valuable resource with your students or target audience.

The resources that I find to be the most useful on NY Learns are the database of standards attached to lessons and other supplemental materials. This is very helpful because you are given lessons which saves a lot of time.
Also, when I teach regents classes I can align problems with standards and create tests that better prepare my students for the regents.
My NY Learns website will be another means for me to post important information for parents and students to view, and by hyperlinking it to my blog we can facilitate educational discussions.

There is no one that I find more useful than another at this moment. I agree with mribak, I love the fact that you can instantly search a particular topic/standard and view several lessons that coincide with it. I also like the fact that you can create an exam easily based on previous exams. i am going to use this one-hundred percent. I will also link this information to my blog and share the wealth with my colleagues. The more we all have and know, the smarter we work, the more we work together, the less tired we are and the students benefit much more from each of us.

Work smarter, not necessarily harder.

I would definitely like to have a much more in depth look at NY Learn. This could be an additional workshop offered by the DOE.

I don't necessarily plan based on standards (their somewhere in the back of my head) but do love borrowing ideas for interesting activities to include in my lesson plans. I think this is where the strength of the NYLearns site rests for me.

I would definately use the assessment builder to make practice test for my children. Third grade is the first grade where the students have to take standardized tests. They are very unfamiliar with the structure, so the practice tests help them become more comfortable taking the actual tests in January and March.

Although I was more drawn to the wikispaces, I also felt that NYLearns was an additional resource which I will use. It makes things easier allowing you to search by a phrase, standard area, or academic level. I felt like everything on this site was simply at the tip of my fingers.

I really enjoyed the educational resources and assessments. There seemed to be an endless amount of information on this site.

I believe this site will be very useful to my students and their parents. Parents will be able to explore the standards and students will be able to become familiar required assessments.

In NYLearns, I love the resource of having already made lesson plans with, as Miri said, the standards that the lessons follow.

I think I will be more apt to using the wiki for the class, as it seems easier to me to use, and NYLearns for my own personal use for the resources.

I looooove NYLEARNS. I've had this account since last year. I only used it for lesson plans & standards. With the website & portfolio (I never knew they existed), I can control my lessons and communicate with parents as well as students.

NYLearns is a really helpful tool, for it provides various lessons, based on the various standards. It's a great resource to us teachers, especially for topics we need more information on. Students can also benefit from the site as well.

Thank you for introducing us to this site. It has a lot to offer.

NYLearns is another tool for me to contact with parents and students. I 'll spread latest updates class information and school activities to them. In addition, they can send me their comments back to me right the way. Thanks for letting me have this skills.

I find the NY Learns to be the most useful resources. It allows you to integrate all the other technologies and software applications that we have been exposed to during 784.2 class. It also allows us to plan more effectively and easily since all the standards, resources and assessments are so easily accessible.
I will be using it to post announcements to parents and students. To post lessons and activites for students to interact with. For example the interactive games allow students to compete with each other to get correct answers to gain the highest score.

I have used nylearns all last year and I was not familiar with the standards and lesson links. I have used nylearns as a tool for my student to get work they have missed or for extra resources. However, I am now also going to use nylearns as a source in planning my lessons for the year. The lesson are great they even provide virtual activities for students which are really interactive.

I love all the standards for different subjects and the lessons posted by other teachers, and that I can set a FREE webapge under nylearns for my classes and their parents. Also, I love that I can make up short quizes for my students by just clicking on small circle to select questions. That can save me lots of time and provide so much convenient. If the system of mylearns is faster and stabler, I will love it more.

NYlearns offers more choices that the Wiki. Standards, lessons plans, assessments, one can not ask for more. I like the fact that NYlearns is more user's friendly. Parents would probably have an easier time getting informations from NYlearns than from a Wiki. I also like the fact that NYlearns gives me more flexibiliy to create a wider variety of tests for my students.
